Friday evening saw the tenth Charter dinner celebration of the Sandwell Lions at which members commemorate the club’s formation, meet new and old friends and toast their successes as a club. The evening was a real success, marking 10 years of achievements for the Sandwell Lions, the end of Gurdas Dhadwal’s presidency, and the significant efforts of the Lions in raising money for the wonderful charities that it helps to support.

A cheque was presented to PAPYRUS, a charity dealing with the prevention of young suicide, at the event.  Many local businesses in the community, including Silks with our Easter egg raffle, contributed towards the overall collection of £854.61.

Gurdas stepped down as president this month, having a lead a successful year for the Lions, and was recognised for his hard work by the District Governor, Stewart Sherman-Kahn by the giving of an award.

The team at Silks are very proud of Gurdas’ dedication to the charity and we look forward to continuing our support throughout the coming years.
